In 1851 the schooner 'Exact' sailed into the Puget Sound with the Denny Party aboard. They eventually landed and settled into what is now Seattle’s Pioneer Square.
Over 150 years later Pacific Northwest natives Heather and Matt McClung founded the Schooner EXACT brewery in 2007 - on the same day they were married. Heather and Matt are active in the local brewing community; Heather has served as president of the Washington Brewers Guild.
Schooner EXACT beers are precise, pure, and distinctive. The beers are perfect every batch - It’s no surprise that Matt taught Chemistry before transitioning to brewing full time. Rather than going for over-the-top flavors, Matt focuses on drinkability: traditional styles with reasonable alcohol and bitterness levels. Matt has also been building up an ambitious sour and barrel ageing program, for which Schooner EXACT is already locally famous. In 2015, the Hopvine IPA was chosen for the top prize (Comac Trophy) at the Brussels Beer Challenge.
Schooner EXACT is uncompromising on quality: The facility and equipment is top of the line and impeccably clean. Matt’s brews are perfect for Japan, a country that appreciates consistency and high quality.
